Rockets Season PREVIEW | Can Marcus Smart Become The HEART & SOUL Of Houston's DEFENSE?

Houston Rockets gear up for a new season with Marcus Smart expected to ignite the team’s defensive identity. Can Smart’s intensity and leadership fill the void left by Dillon Brooks and become the driving force behind a revamped Rockets defense?

Host Jackson Gatlin (@JTGatlin) spotlights the roles of Marcus Smart, Clint Capela, and rookie Bruce Thornton, breaking down Smart’s impact as a defensive communicator and secondary ball handler, Capela’s value as a versatile backup center and trade asset, and Thornton’s upside amid a crowded guard rotation. Key discussions include lineups featuring switch-everything versatility, lineup and minutes projections, and how Ime Udoka’s system leverages this depth. Will Houston’s revamped bench fuel a run in the West, and is Smart primed to be the heart and soul of the Rockets’ playoff push
