WC Baku Night 2 Finals - Kornev = WR

Baku Night 2 — Kornev Has Arrived

Night two of the 2026 Swimming World Cup in Baku belonged to Egor Kornev. The 22-year-old Russian produced the first world record of his career, blasting 44.84 in the 100 freestyle to equal Kyle Chalmers’ world record — less than an hour after a 22.23 World Cup Record in the 50 backstroke. Bobby breaks down how Kornev did it, the developing rivalry with Cameron McEvoy, and why there could be plenty more to come.

Plus, Luke Barr continues his breakout World Cup with another IM victory, Marrit Steenbergen collects her third gold medal in Baku, Siobhan Haughey delivers in the 200 free, and Qin Haiyang edges Michael “The Hooligan” Houlie by just 0.03 in another stacked breaststroke battle. Bobby also dives into Mona McSharry, Yu Yiting, Chen Juner and Roos Vanotterdijk as the storylines build heading into the final night in Baku.
