ORIOLES POSTCAST: Baltimore Orioles’ September NIGHTMARE Continues in 8-1 loss vs. Toronto Blue Jays

The Orioles had Dylan Cease backed into a corner in the first inning. They came away with absolutely nothing.

Baltimore dropped Sunday’s series finale in Toronto, 8-1, suffering a crushing loss that feels even bigger than the final score. The O’s loaded the bases with nobody out and worked Cease for 33 pitches in the first, but failed to score. From there, the offense never found a way to make Toronto pay.

Trevor Rogers was sharp early, but the Blue Jays broke through in the fifth inning with back-to-back-to-back home runs from George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Kazuma Okamoto. Baltimore’s lone run came on Pete Alonso’s RBI single, his 100th RBI of the season.

Then the eighth turned a frustrating loss into a full-blown rout. Yaramíl Hiraldo allowed four runs and issued four walks overall as Toronto pulled away, 8-1.

The Orioles now fall six games under .500 with only 12 games remaining. They are 3-9 in September, no longer control their own Wild Card destiny, and will need a lot of help while trying to climb past Cleveland, Toronto, and Texas. Baltimore will also have to sweep the Blue Jays at Camden Yards next week to win the season series.
