Exploring why the Lions released Terrion Arnold
The Detroit Lions moved fast. After a pretrial hearing in Hillsborough County where no charges were dismissed and a $1,000,000 bond was set, the team released CB Terrion Arnold on Monday. The brash move has led to many questions about why the Lions would act so decisively.
Tuesday's Daily DLP answers a couple of questions and ideas surrounding the Lions' swift action. The first was posed by Lions legend Lomas Brown to Daily DLP host Jeff Risdon during an appearance Monday night on WJR Radio. Would the Lions have done the same if Arnold were a more successful player and not a relative disappointment on the field through his first two seasons? Risdon believes they would; the team's stated "no turds" policy doesn't have exceptions. But others in the DLP Slack channel and various social media apps disagree.
One of the plain truths for the Lions is that the organization didn't want to keep seeing Terrion Arnold associated as a member of the Lions during his upcoming trial. Releasing him now at least deflects any controversy about why the team would continue to employ a person facing multiple felony counts.
