The Players Championship 2026 Preview: Brian Rolapp’s PGA Tour Shakeup + John Gerber’s Winning Picks

It’s a packed Wednesday episode of From the Rough Golf Podcast with PGA of America member John Gerber and co-host Timm “IndyCarTim” Hamm as the guys preview the 2026 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass and break down the biggest storylines in golf.

This week’s show dives into the future of the PGA Tour after CEO Brian Rolapp outlined major ideas for the tour’s future competitive model, including a possible two-track system, promotion and relegation, a shorter season, bigger marquee events, and a postseason that could feature match play.

The guys also preview a wide-open Players Championship field with questions surrounding Scottie Scheffler’s form, Rory McIlroy’s back injury, and whether stars like Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Åberg, Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama, Viktor Hovland, Russell Henley or one of the tour’s rising young guns can take over at Sawgrass.

Plus, it’s time for Johnny’s Winning Picks for The Players Championship.

If you’re looking for Players Championship picks, PGA Tour analysis, golf betting angles, and reaction to the biggest changes coming to pro golf, this episode is for you.
