BREAKOUT: Should the New York Mets SIGN Jake Bauers or Trust Jared Young at First Base in 2027?

New York Mets face a pivotal first base decision: should they pursue top free agent Jake Bauers, or trust in a breakout from Jared Young?

With Bauers coming off an NLCS MVP for the Milwaukee Brewers and a 26-homer season, the stakes are high for the Mets’ infield future.

Ryan Finkelstein compares Bauers’ recent power surge and proven plate discipline to Jared Young’s promising 2026 campaign, spotlighting key stats like OPS, exit velocity, and walk rates.

The episode weighs contract projections, free agent alternatives like Sato and Ty France, and the risks of big-market pressure on Bauers.

Can a Young-Vientos platoon deliver 30 home runs at first base, or should the Mets look to trade targets like Jake Burger?

Finkelstein outlines the roster implications, questions draft pick compensation, and explores how internal options could shape New York’s offseason priorities.

Are major signings or smart platoons the Mets’ best path forward?
