🚨 THE CUBS ARE GETTING TO WORK! IS JED HOYER PREPARING TO MAKE A BLOCKBUSTER MOVE?!
The offseason is officially underway, and the Chicago Cubs have some BIG decisions to make if they want to close the gap on the Milwaukee Brewers and compete for a World Series championship in 2027.
Mike Jones is breaking down EVERY major Cubs offseason move so far, what the decisions mean for the roster, and why one name has Cubs fans buzzing: TARIK SKUBAL!
🔥 WHAT WE'RE BREAKING DOWN:
🔵 JED HOYER STARTS MAKING MOVES!
The Cubs decline Colin Rea's $7.5 million option.
Mutual options are declined for Matthew Boyd, Carson Kelly, Caleb Thielbar and Hunter Harvey.
Clay Holmes declines his $12 million player option and enters free agency.
The Cubs restructure Jacob Webb's contract, bringing him back for 2027 with a club option for 2028.
Chicago claims reliever Eric Orze off waivers from Minnesota.
The Cubs extend a $23.15 million qualifying offer to Seiya Suzuki.
🔴 THE TARIK SKUBAL SWEEPSTAKES!
Reports indicate the Cubs BADLY WANT the two-time Cy Young Award winner. Could Jed Hoyer actually land the biggest prize of the offseason?
With so many starting pitchers potentially leaving Chicago, Skubal could completely transform this rotation. But how much would it cost? Are the Cubs willing to spend what it takes to get a deal done?
⚾ THE BIG QUESTIONS:
Is Jed Hoyer finally ready to go ALL IN?
Will the Cubs make a serious run at Tarik Skubal?
What happens with Seiya Suzuki and the other free agents?
How many starting pitchers do the Cubs need?
Can Chicago build a roster capable of taking down Milwaukee?
The offseason is just getting started, Cubs fans, and things could get VERY interesting!
