Pete Alonso’s game-tying home run and curtain call at Citi Field sends Evan Roberts over the edge. Evan still loves Alonso, but argues that coming back out of the dugout was unnecessary and felt like one more chance to rub the Mets’ mistake in their faces.
Tiki Barber and Shaun Morash strongly disagree, saying Mets fans were demanding the moment and Alonso was simply giving them the goodbye they wanted after hitting his 300th career home run. The argument gets personal as Shaun calls Evan’s anger misdirected, while Evan insists cheering Alonso is one thing and watching a former Met take a curtain call on the road is something else entirely.
