Tottenham Hotspur travel to Old Trafford on Saturday, 10 October 2026, facing a crucial Premier League test as Roberto De Zerbi searches for his first league win in charge. With Spurs bottom of the table after five matches, the pressure is already building, and the visit to Manchester United offers an opportunity to kick-start their campaign.

Maddison has suffered another interruption to his preparations, missing three or four days of training around the end of last week and the start of this one. However, De Zerbi has confirmed that the midfielder is available for selection against United.

Spurs have managed just two Premier League goals in their opening five matches, both coming late in their 3–2 defeat at Aston Villa. Their difficulty is not simply finding the net; it is creating enough clear chances to put opponents under sustained pressure.

A positive result could give De Zerbi's project some much-needed momentum after a difficult opening spell. More importantly, it would offer evidence that his players are beginning to understand his tactical demands and can compete under pressure away from home.

For Tottenham, the priority must be to remain in the game, make their attacking opportunities count and show greater resilience than they have in recent weeks. Ultimately, this is about more than three points. Spurs need a performance that demonstrates their season can still be turned around. A first Premier League win would be ideal, but even a hard-earned draw could provide the confidence and momentum they desperately need.
