In DC, you can find a little bit of everything 🏛️ Including our 2026 Home Schedule 😏😉
Introducing our 2026 Home Schedule! In this release video, we're highlighting the city we call home by placing subtle nods to our opponents along the iconic roads that weave together Washington, D.C.’s rich history with the journey ahead this season! Washington, D.C. was designed in 1791 by French-American artist and engineer Pierre Charles L’Enfant, whose vision for the nation’s capital combined European Baroque influences with a thoughtful, highly organized street layout. His plan featured broad avenues, public squares, and a grid system that placed the U.S. Capitol at the heart of the city. D.C.’s streets follow a unique structure: numbered streets run north to south, lettered streets run east to west, and grand diagonal avenues cut across the grid to connect major landmarks like the Capitol and the White House. There are 51 diagonal avenues named after U.S. states, representing all 50 states plus Puerto Rico. Most are avenues, with a few notable exceptions like California Street and Ohio Drive. Historically, older states are often located closer to the city’s center, reflecting D.C.’s growth alongside the nation itself. Enjoy the video and let us know what you find! 😉 #RiseUpDC #nwsl #soccer #washingtonspirit #washingtondc #dmv 👇 Don't forget to comment, like, and subscribe for more updates on the Washington Spirit! 👇 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMlOyKf_b7toiIWFUAQ5ISQ About The Washington Spirit The Washington Spirit is the premier professional women’s soccer team based in Washington, D.C. and plays at Audi Field in Buzzard Point.
