Is ROOT Sports still available, and where did its teams go?

No. ROOT Sports Northwest closed after its final Mariners broadcast in 2025. In 2026, in-market Mariners fans can use Mariners.TV or a participating TV provider, while out-of-market fans use MLB.TV. The Kraken's non-national games are on the Kraken Hockey Network, including KING 5, KONG, regional broadcast partners, and Prime Video. National exclusivities still apply.

Step by step

Choose the team you need. The Mariners and Kraken no longer share one regional sports network, so start with the team rather than searching for a replacement ROOT channel.
For the Mariners, check Mariners.TV. Fans in the Mariners home territory—Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, Montana, Hawaii, British Columbia, and Alberta—can stream local broadcasts through Mariners.TV. Out-of-market fans use MLB.TV.
For the Kraken, check local TV or Prime Video. Non-national Kraken games are distributed by the Kraken Hockey Network on KING 5, KONG, regional partner stations, and Prime Video for Prime members in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.
Check national exclusivities. Nationally selected MLB and NHL games move to the network or streaming service holding that window.

What replaced ROOT for the Mariners

Major League Baseball now produces and distributes locally carried Mariners games under the Mariners TV name. In-market streaming runs through Mariners.TV, while participating cable, satellite, and internet TV providers carry a dedicated Mariners channel. Standard MLB.TV remains the option for fans outside the home market. The current Mariners.TV home territory covers Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, Montana, Hawaii, British Columbia, and Alberta.

The current Mariners.TV price is a late-season offer

On September 2, 2026, the official Mariners page listed $19.99 for the rest of the season. That is a time-limited late-season price, not a promise about the cost of a future full season. MLB says the seasonal subscription automatically renews around March 1, 2027 at the then-current regular full-season price unless canceled.

What replaced ROOT for the Kraken

Kraken coverage follows a different path. For 2026-27, the Kraken say their hockey network will distribute every non-national game on KING 5, KONG, and select regional partner stations. Prime members in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska can stream those games on Prime Video. Check the team schedule for games selected by a national partner.

Avoid stale ROOT Sports listings

A search result, old channel guide, or reseller page may still show ROOT Sports. Do not treat that as a current subscription option. Confirm the team, ZIP, and game window through the current Mariners or Kraken source before paying for a service.
