The New York Rangers have consistently been amongst the NHL's best franchises over the last 15 years in spite of the fact the team hasn't won a Stanley Cup since 1994. With the benefit of hindsight, tools including hockey reference, puckpedia and evolving wild, hosts Nick Zararis and Andrew Chelney were presented with a simple challenge:
Design a roster comprised of New York Rangers players under the following guidelines
•Under a $71,500,000 million cap ceiling to account for the historical trend line of the salary cap and not undervaluing players from the past
•Picking specific seasons of players (I.E. 2019-2020 Mika Zibanejad) and the price against the cap coming from the selected season
•Only one entry level contract to avoid loading up on high-end youth and undermining the roster building component
Nick and Andrew take on the challenge and head down memory lane for visit some of the team's more successful seasons.
