Joey Aguilar's journey from City College of San Francisco to Tennessee QB 👏 | College GameDay
It wasn’t long ago that Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar was enrolled at City College of San Francisco. 90-minute commutes to practice each day started taking a toll, so much so that he nearly walked away from football to become a fireman. A year later, he transferred to Diablo Valley College where COVID put his dreams of playing on pause. Two years after that, he traveled across the country to Appalachian State where he orchestrated a record-breaking season under center. California called him home and he signed with UCLA, but a QB controversy some 2,000 miles away created a ripple effect that catapulted him to good ol’ Rocky Top where he will make his SEC debut against Georgia. On College GameDay, Marty Smith reports on his journey.
