The Brazilian national team is one of the most successful in international football. Between 1950 and 2002 they won five of the 13 World Cups played, and reached the final in two others. And it was the way they did it that made them so unique.

But these days the Selecao are stuck between the “Samba football” of the domestic league, and the tactical pragmatism of Europe, where most of their squad play.

Can they get it right for the 2026 World Cup?
