Frank Vandenbroucke INSANE ATTACK : Vuelta a Espana 1999 Stage 19 Avila

Frank Vandbroucke was one of the most talented cyclists of his generation, and his run during 1998-1999 included some incredible palmares with a Paris Nice GC, Liege-Bastogne-Liege and two Vuelta a Espana stage wins, as well as the points classification jersey. This video looks at Frank Vandenbroucke's performance in stage 19 of the Vuelta a Espana 1999, where he launched a mega attack on the climb to Avila for the stage win, dropping Roberto Heras and Jan Ullrich in the process. 1999 was the height of Vandenbroucke's career, with substance abuse issues and PED scandals plaguing later years. He tragically passed away in Senegal in 2009.
