New Cincinnati Bearcats commit Josh Tyson is already looking forward to his first Crosstown Shootout.

“I am ready for the Crosstown Shootout. I never duck smoke, so whatever they’re talking about, I’m ready. It’s Go Bearcats. I bleed Bearcats.”

Tyson, a Cincinnati-area native and one of the top guards in the 2027 class, committed to UC on Friday after choosing the Bearcats over Xavier. The former Lakota West star is ranked No. 42 nationally by 247Sports and will play his senior season at national power La Lumiere in Indiana.

Tyson put together a huge junior season at Lakota West, averaging 16.3 points, 3.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals while leading the Firebirds to a 24-2 record and an undefeated 16-0 run through the GMC. He was named GMC Player of the Year, earned first-team Division I All-Ohio honors and was a finalist for Ohio Mr. Basketball.

Safe to say the hometown kid already understands the rivalry. 😤
