Femke Broeders-Bol ran 1:55.41 at the Lausanne Diamond League to set the Dutch 800m record, improving on the mark she equalled at the European Championships a week earlier, and finish second behind Audrey Werro by just 0.08 seconds. It's her fifth personal best of the season in her first full year at the distance.
The margin over her main rival is tightening at an unprecedented rate. In Ostrava on June 16, Werro beat her by 2.68 seconds. In Paris on June 28, by 1.80. At the European Championships on August 14, by 0.73. In Lausanne, 0.08. Four races. Two months. The gap has narrowed by more than two and a half seconds in a matter of weeks.
