LEGENDARY MATCH | POLAND vs ITALY | CEV EuroVolley 2023 FINAL. What a NIGHT in Rome! The grand final of the European Championship delivered a massive clash between two volleyball giants — Poland and Italy — inside the packed Palazzo dello Sport in front of more than 11,000 passionate fans.

Poland defeated Italy in dominant fashion, winning the final 3–0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-23) and lifting the European Championship trophy for the first time since 2009. It was a statement victory against the defending European champions and hosts, and it also served as sweet revenge after Poland’s loss to Italy in the 2022 World Championship Final.

From the very first rally, Poland imposed their rhythm with aggressive serving and disciplined blocking. They controlled the tempo of the match, forcing Italy out of system and capitalizing on transition opportunities. Even when Italy tried to push back late in sets, Poland stayed composed and clinical in key moments.

The leader of the Polish side was Wilfredo León, who scored 13 points in the final and was later named the MVP of the tournament. His powerful serves and high-ball attacks created constant pressure on the Italian reception line. In the middle, Norbert Huber delivered an outstanding performance with 12 points, including crucial blocks and aces that shifted momentum at key stages of the match.

On the Italian side, Daniele Lavia led the scoring with 13 points, while Alessandro Michieletto added 10 points and fought until the very last rally. Despite their efforts, Italy struggled to match Poland’s serving intensity and offensive balance.

The third set was the most competitive, with Italy pushing hard to extend the match, but Poland held their nerve in the decisive rallies to close out the championship in straight sets.

This victory confirmed Poland’s status as one of the most dominant teams in world volleyball and ended their 14-year wait for European gold. For Italy, it was a tough silver medal finish at home, but another chapter in their incredible modern volleyball era.

An unforgettable final. High-level volleyball. Pure emotion. European giants colliding for the crown.
