Wedge loft is the angle of the club face, measured in degrees, and it plays a major role in how far each wedge carries. Choosing the right lofts helps create predictable distance gaps between the pitching wedge, gap wedge, sand wedge, and lob wedge.
Vokey wedge rep Aaron Dill discusses how to build a wedge setup around those distances. Loft gaps of roughly 4–6° can be a useful starting point. Carry distance and ball speed matter too. For some players, around 13 yards of carry between wedges can create a consistent progression through the set.
From pitching wedge to lob wedge, proper wedge gapping helps ensure you have the right club for every distance and can make more consistent swings around the green and from the fairway.
