Brazil ๐ง๐ท defeated Canada ๐จ๐ฆ in one of the most thrilling matches of Week 2 of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, surviving an incredible five-set battle in Ljubljana, Slovenia. After nearly three hours of high-level volleyball, Brazil emerged victorious 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 28-26, 22-25, 17-15), snapping its three-match losing streak and earning a much-needed victory in the race for the VNL Finals.
Brazil started the match in dominant fashion, taking the opening set 25-17 with powerful serving, solid blocking, and efficient attacking. The third set became the turning point of the contest. Both teams traded points throughout an intense battle that featured several set points on both sides. Brazil eventually held its nerve to edge the marathon set 28-26, taking a 2-1 lead.
Canada refused to give up and produced another impressive comeback in the fourth set. Strong performances from Sharone Vernon-Evans and Skyler Varga helped the Canadians win 25-22 and force a deciding fifth set.
The tiebreak delivered even more drama. Neither team managed to pull away as momentum shifted repeatedly during the closing rallies. Brazil's experience proved decisive in the final moments, as the South Americans converted one of their late match points to secure a dramatic 17-15 victory.
