I'm Playing My BEST Golf Ever… So Why Would I Switch Irons?
Golf
Are your iron shafts too heavy? Trevor has played the best iron golf of his life with his Srixon ZXi7s in Dynamic Gold S400 — and he's still thinking about switching to a Titleist T-Series Oil Can combo set built with KBS Tour 120 S shafts, roughly 12 grams lighter.
Three sets, one swing: the ZXi7 gamers (S400), a Titleist T100/T250 combo in the same S400 as the control, and the Oil Can T100/T250 build in KBS Tour — pitching wedge, 7 iron and 4 iron on the launch monitor with Tim and Tate reading the numbers.
This is what usually happens off camera after a review: a club tests well, so we go deeper. Dynamic Gold discontinued Trevor's black S400, so the Oil Cans were built in KBS Tour 120 S Black Pearl — about 133 g in the S400 down to 120 g. We compare the Srixon ZXi7 vs Titleist T100 with the shaft held constant, then look at what the lighter shaft does to launch, spin, peak height, descent angle, dispersion and gapping from PW to 4 iron.
