Volleyball
The third game of the final series between Zarechye-Odintsovo and Dinamo-Ak Bars Kazan promised to be a hot one. The team from the Moscow region had nowhere to retreat, and they were ready to fight on their home court. The stands of the Odintsovo Sports Palace were packed, providing the hosts with tremendous support and an atmosphere. The Zarechenki started the match with a charge, with spectacular attacks and blocks – 6:4. But soon several mistakes forced Konstantin Ushakov to take a timeout – 6:9. The hosts had everything at a very high level – good reception, defense, block, but again the attack in the edges was lame, and this moment allowed the guests to stay ahead, as Brianell Martinez did not experience such problems. As a result, towards the end of the set, the situation for the Zarechenki became critical – 14:19. With three blocks, they almost caught up with the guests – 21:22, but they couldn't score at the right moment. However, Gaila Gonzalez and Elizaveta Karpol scored, and Karpol converted the set point – 25:22.
In the second set, unfortunately, the situation did not change. Zarechenki continued to struggle more with themselves than with Dinamovki, and at the start of the set, they found themselves in the role of the pursuers – 4:8. The play of the outside strikers was frankly not going well, so the coach of the team from the Moscow region had to use both time-outs. By the middle of the set, after two attacks by Kamilla Rebrova, the gap grew to 6 points – 15:9 in favor of the Kazan guests. The hosts tried to save the set, but in order to turn the tide of the match, they needed to play error-free and, most importantly, more effective offense. Unfortunately, they were unable to eliminate their mistakes. In addition to their offensive problems, they also faced difficulties in defense, resulting in a score of 11:20. This left the team from the Moscow region with no chance of winning, as they were defeated by a score of 16:25.
In the third set, Zarechye-Odintsovo had to make every effort to catch up with the Kazanians, who had taken a lead of 5:10. They succeeded after Olga Biryukova's attack and Eva Pavlovich Mori's successful play on the net, resulting in a 10:10 score. This marked the beginning of a successful stretch for the team from the Moscow region, during which Yulia Brovkina's active play led Zarechye-Odintsovo to the lead, resulting in a 14:12 score. The fans got the show they had been waiting for. It seemed that luck had finally turned to the Zarechenki, who had a real chance to continue the fight after the visitors' mistake – 24:22. However, the Dinamovki tied the score – 24:24. The hosts had several more opportunities, but the Gonzalez-Rebrova pair proved to be stronger than the attackers of the Moscow team – 29:27 and 3:0 in the match.
