Anthony Edwards' "Dying Quail" Inbound Cost Minnesota the Game
Basketball
The Wolves had a chance to ice this game and instead threw a dying quail inbound that got picked off like a pick-six in football. No play drawn up, no structure, just hoping Anthony Edwards could wing it. That's not late-game execution, that's late-game prayer.
Minnesota left points on the board all possession long. They targeted the right mismatch with Randle on Bissell and got the bank shot, but then completely fell apart when it mattered most. A simple sideline out of bounds play with a quick attack and a tip-in opportunity was right there. Instead they got a desperation heave from Champagne that needed to be perfect just to force overtime.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it: good coaching in late-game situations isn't about drawing up a miracle. It's about giving your players the best possible chance. A timeout, a designed play, a tip-in opportunity with Wemby on the floor. That's not complicated. That's just basketball. #shorts
