San Diego and Boston dueled to a 2-2 draw on Sunday night, with four second-half goals having a yo-yo effect on the match that eventually ended even.
After a scoreless first half that included a disallowed goal for San Diego, it was Boston who opened the scoring through Annie Karich in the 48th minute. However, two goals in three minutes just three minutes later saw Gia Corley and an own goal from Boston put San Diego in front for the first time with just over 30 minutes to play.
Then, in the 73rd minute and against the run of play, Boston's Alba Caño unleashed a powerful, dipping effort that sailed into the top right corner, making something out of nothing and bringing Boston back level.
In the end, neither team could break the deadlock a third time and the two settled for a point a piece in San Diego.
The result also means the 2026 NWSL Shield is still up for grabs, and will be decided on Decision Day for the fifth time in NWSL history.
