Ethan Strand Has Arrived | Gets His First Diamond League Win In Silesia

Ethan Strand won the men's 1500m at the Silesia Diamond League in 3:30.77 — his first career Diamond League victory, in a race billed as Cole Hocker versus Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Neither of them won it. Phanuel Koech took second in 3:31.14. Hocker was third in 3:31.16. Ingebrigtsen finished fourth in 3:31.19.

Strand sat 11th at 800m. He was still deep in the pack with a lap to go. Then he unleashed a 1:50.4 last 800, a 54.3 last lap, and a 26.4 last 200 that closed 13.2-13.2. He was gone by the line.

The 23-year-old has now beaten Hocker in three straight 1500m and mile finals — the 2025 USA Championships (which he inherited as champion after Jonah Koech was stripped for doping), the 2026 Pre Classic Bowerman Mile, and now Silesia.
