Mizuno GX Sonic Royal PW Review | The Fastest Tech Suit in the World

The Mizuno GX Sonic Royal PW is, in my opinion, the fastest tech suit in the world — and after reviewing almost 100 racing suits I'll die on that hill. This is the full review: the SONIC LIGHT-RIBTEX fabric, the compression, the buoyancy, the sizing, what changed from the NV, who it's for, and how to actually get hold of one outside Japan.

ABOUT THE SUIT
The Mizuno GX·SONIC ROYAL PW ("Power") is the high-compression sprint model in Mizuno's Royal line, launched 17 October 2025 as the successor to the GX Sonic 6. PW is built for 50s and 100s of freestyle, butterfly and backstroke; MT (Motion) is the balanced model for up to 200s and 400s; SF (Soft) is the lightest, for distance. The main fabric is SONIC LIGHT-RIBTEX — a water-repellent woven fabric with a slit-nylon yarn structure — with a SONIC LIGHT front panel, dual-layer back, SONIC LINE DESIGN support taping across the glutes, thighs and inner thighs, and ultrasonic-bonded seams. Nylon 65% / polyurethane 35%. It is World Aquatics (FINA) approved — men's jammer N2MBD001, approval code MI149393. Japanese RRP is ¥34,100; US retail is around $450 and it sells out almost immediately. Delivered to the UK through Buyee it came to roughly £200 all-in, which is about 45% less than the arena Powerskin Primo at UK full price.
