Faith Kipyegon is a Kenyan middle and long-distance runner who specializes in the 1500-metre distance. She won gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, 2020 in Tokyo and 2024 in Paris, setting a new Olympic record of 3:51.29 minutes in Paris. She also secured the silver medal in the 5000 meters at the 2024 Games. Kipyegon holds the current world record in the 1500 meters with 3:49.04 minutes, set in Paris in July 2024. She began her career with victories at the World Junior Cross Country Championships in 2011 and 2013 and in the 1500 meters at the 2011 U18 World Championships and the 2012 U20 World Championships. After taking a break to have a baby in 2018, she successfully returned to the track and was named World Athlete of the Year in 2023.
