In a rivalry game that was also very important for seeding in the ACC Women's basketball tournament, the Hokies defeated the Cavaliers 83-82, to sweep the season series. Virginia Tech led by as many as 23 in the first half and 15 at halftime, but with 8 minutes to go in the game, Virginia had come all the way back to tie the game at 64. Virginia Tech was down one when Hokies' Carleigh Wenzel was fouled with 1.7 seconds left, and she made both the free throws to win the game. Wenzel finished the game with a career-high 29 points, with four rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block. Carys Baker made four three-pointers and finished the game with 16 points and seven rebounds. After scoring one point in the first half, UVA's Kymora Johsnon scored 25 second half points to score a team-high 26 points. Johnson also had seven rebounds, six assists, and a steal. Paris Clark added 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
