Laurie Daley has ended weeks of speculation, confirming he won't seek a new deal as NSW Origin coach, walking away on a high after steering the Blues to a 2-1 series win.
Blues assistant Matt King is set to replace him, with a formal announcement expected as contract terms are finalised.
King, 45, has never been a head coach at NRL level but brings a serious resume: Roosters assistant under Trent Robinson since 2017 through the 2018-19 back-to-back premierships, Blues assistant under Michael Maguire and Daley, and earlier work with the emerging Blues under Brad Fittler.
