What would make a WTA pro change racquets in the middle of the season? Kayla Day joins the Talk Tennis Podcast to take us inside her surprising switch from the Babolat Pure Aero to the new Wilson Defyer 100. Mid-season racquet changes are rare at the professional level, so what made Kayla decide it was time for a change?
Kayla talks about her season including almost beating Iga Swiatek at the BNP Paribas Open, qualifying for Wimbledon and how the Defyer got in her hands during a training block. She talks about how the Wilson Defyer 100 feels different from her previous setup, what ultimately convinced her to make the switch, and what it’s been like adapting to a completely new frame and strings while competing on tour.
