In February 2023, Manchester City were charged with 115 alleged breaches of a series of Premier League financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons, and referred to an independent commission to adjudicate over the charges.

In September 2026, they were found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges. The club is expected to appeal the decision.
