On November 18, 2025, amid the MLB Rule 5 protection deadline, several players saw significant roster changes: The Boston Red Sox designated first baseman Nathaniel Lowe for assignment while acquiring utility infielder Tristan Gray from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for right-hander Luis Guerrero. The Oakland Athletics designated outfielder JJ Bleday for assignment to make room for prospects on their 40-man roster; the Colorado Rockies designated first baseman Michael Toglia (and pitcher Ryan Rolison) for assignment, potentially setting up a non-tender ahead of free agency; the Tampa Bay Rays designated infielder/outfielder Christopher Morel and outfielder Jake Fraley for assignment to accommodate other moves; the Houston Astros designated infielder Ramon Urias for assignment; the Chicago White Sox acquired left-hander Chris Murphy from the Red Sox in exchange for catching prospect Ronny Hernandez; the Minnesota Twins acquired right-handed reliever Eric Orze from the Rays for minor-league pitcher Jacob Kisting to bolster their bullpen; right-hander Steven Wilson was traded from the White Sox to the Rays (along with left-hander Yoendrys Gomez) for outfielder Everson Pereira and infielder Tanner Murray; and the Baltimore Orioles traded right-hander Grayson Rodriguez to the Los Angeles Angels for outfielder Taylor Ward.
