Although the final score suggests a comfortable victory, the match was anything but easy. Slovenia prevailed 25-21, 35-33, 39-37 after more than two hours of incredible volleyball, featuring two marathon sets, countless set points, spectacular rallies, and outstanding defensive plays from both teams.

The opening set saw Türkiye start strongly, controlling much of the early action with confident attacking and solid defense. However, Slovenia gradually found its rhythm, taking advantage of several Turkish errors while young opposite Nik Mujanović began to dominate offensively. His powerful attacks helped Slovenia turn the momentum around and secure the first set 25-21.

Slovenia appeared to be cruising toward victory after building a comfortable 19-14 lead, but Türkiye refused to surrender. Substitute outside hitter Gökçen Yüksel entered the match and immediately changed the momentum, helping Türkiye erase the entire deficit. Slovenia reached match point at 24-23, but the match was far from over. The teams exchanged point after point in an extraordinary battle, saving numerous match points with fearless attacks, spectacular digs and clutch blocking. After one of the longest and most exciting sets of the tournament, Slovenia finally converted its opportunity to win 39-37 and complete the straight-set victory.

Rok Možič once again proved why he is Slovenia's leader, delivering consistently throughout the entire match and scoring numerous crucial points during both marathon sets. His attacking efficiency and ability to perform under pressure played a huge role in Slovenia's victory. Nik Mujanović also produced one of the finest performances of his international career, using his powerful spikes to give Slovenia another reliable scoring option throughout the match.

Beyond individual performances, Slovenia's greatest strength was its mental toughness. Despite failing to convert numerous set points, the team never lost confidence or composure. Instead, they continued trusting their system and eventually found a way to finish both dramatic overtime sets.

The match produced several remarkable statistics. Slovenia required 11 set points to win the second set, while the third set finished at an incredible 39-37, making it one of the highest-scoring sets in recent VNL history. Despite ending in only three sets, the match lasted well over two hours because of the extraordinary length of the final two sets and the countless dramatic rallies.

For Slovenia, the victory secured another appearance in the Volleyball Nations League semifinals and marked the team's third consecutive trip to the Final Four. The performance demonstrated exceptional resilience and confirmed Slovenia as one of the strongest teams in international volleyball.

For Türkiye, the tournament ended despite an outstanding effort. Playing in the nation's first-ever Men's Volleyball Nations League Finals, the Turkish team showed it belongs among the world's elite by pushing one of Europe's strongest teams to the absolute limit. Although the scoreboard reads 3-0, this quarterfinal felt like a five-set thriller and will be remembered as one of the most entertaining matches of the 2026 Men's Volleyball Nations League. Slovenia's composure in the biggest moments, combined with outstanding performances from Rok Možič and Nik Mujanović, ultimately proved just enough to overcome a fearless Turkish side led by Adis Lagumdzija.
