The Miami Heat could be closing in on one of the most intriguing veteran additions of the offseason. According to NBA insider Evan Sidery, the Dallas Mavericks are reportedly exploring the possibility of buying out Klay Thompson’s final year under contract if they’re unable to find a trade partner. Even more interesting, reports indicate there is mutual interest between Klay Thompson and the Miami Heat.
In today’s episode of Miami Heat Talk, I break down why this could be much bigger than simply adding another veteran shooter. I explain why Klay Thompson could become this generation’s version of Ray Allen for the Miami Heat. Just like Ray Allen did during Miami’s championship run in 2013, Klay would provide elite three-point shooting, championship experience, incredible floor spacing, and the ability to knock down clutch shots in the biggest moments.
I also discuss how Klay would fit alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, Bobby Portis, Norman Powell, Davion Mitchell, Nikola Jović, and the rest of Miami’s talented roster. Would Erik Spoelstra be able to maximize Klay’s strengths the same way he did with Ray Allen? Could this be the final move that pushes the Heat from championship contender to championship favorite?
Join me as I analyze the reports, break down the potential buyout situation, examine Miami’s roster fit, and explain why this move could be one of Pat Riley’s smartest additions yet. Be sure to like, .
