Morez Johnson Jr. Has A Peak That Could Change the Mavs and so does Dereck Lively II

Which young Dallas Mavericks player changes the Mavs’ future the most if he hits his highest NBA outcome: Morez Johnson Jr., Dereck Lively II, Sergio de Larrea, Zaccharie Risacher, or Max Christie? With Cooper Flagg primed for a second-year leap and Kyrie Irving on the roster, the Mavs’ ceiling may hinge on which of these young pieces reaches his peak.

Nick Angstadt and Isaac Harris debate whether a healthy Dereck Lively II or a Bam Adebayo–Draymond Green–Al Horford style Morez Johnson Jr. does more for the Dallas Mavericks next to Cooper Flagg. They also look at Morez Johnson Jr. playing the 5, how he compares to Daniel Gafford and Thunder rookie Aday Mara, and who matches up best against Victor Wembanyama. Plus, Sergio de Larrea’s Jason Kidd-style ceiling, Zaccharie Risacher’s polarizing floor, and Max Christie’s contract extension.
