Malik Davis Won The Cowboys Handcuff Battle

Malik Davis won the Cowboys handcuff battle outright, and it was not close.
Dallas cut both Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah, and reportedly were not even sure
they wanted to open a practice squad spot for them. The room is now Javonte
Williams as the RB1, Malik Davis as the RB2, and Emari Demercado, claimed
after Kansas City cut him, back with Klayton Adams as the RB3.

Ian Hartitz's case for Davis is not that he is a special talent. It is that
this Cowboys offense could finish first in scoring and nobody would blink, and
Davis is the next man up for something close to a bell cow role. Dallas played
one running back for at least 75 percent of their offensive snaps at the sixth
highest rate in the NFL last season. That is all you can ask a team to do for
your running back, and the Cowboys are more willing to do it than almost
anyone. Clear cut number two handcuff in one of the best offenses in football.
