Quintin McCarty could not be stopped in his path to touching first in the men's 50 back in Irvine last night. In what was merely a training swim in the prelims, McCarty was scheduled to scratch the final and do a workout in the afternoon instead. However, he thought it would be more helpful to get race reps swimming outside in preparation for Pan Pacs.
This proved fruitful, as he ended up hitting the lane line and receiving an "extra trophy" (bruise) from it while still getting his hand on the wall first. Now, hopefully the sprint ace will have better luck swimming down the middle of the lane in a couple of weeks.
