I hadn't talked about this publicly yet, but after syncing up two camera angles I think De'Aaron Fox may have brushed SGA's left leg with his right hand in addition to the knee-to-foot contact everyone was already focused on.
That subtle arm movement you see on the left screen? That's a veteran move. A little trick. And it likely contributed to the spin Shai had after the contact.
Combo wasn't fully sold, but he agreed the arm movement is a strong context clue that something happened there.
Either way, the ruling on the play isn't complicated. When illegal lower body contact occurs on an airborne shooter who is not in an unnatural or abnormal shooting position, it's a foul. Full stop. You can call it soft. You can say Shai shouldn't have gone down. It's still a foul, and you'll see it called the vast majority of the time.
The Harrison Barnes play from the game before was a similar situation and I thought that one should've been called too. Consistency matters, and the inconsistency is what's really fueling the frustration here. #shorts
