Meet Myrtle the Turtle: A New England Aquarium Icon Since the 1970s

Getting the chance to meet and feed Myrtle the Turtle was a true privilege for the Section 10 crew!

The undisputed star of the New England Aquarium's four-story Giant Ocean Tank, Myrtle has been calling the Aquarium home since June 12, 1970. Weighing more than 500 pounds and measuring over four and a half feet long, she's one of the Aquarium's biggest and most beloved residents. We got an up-close look as Myrtle enjoyed one of her daily meals of romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and fish while learning what has made her such an icon for more than five decades!
