Noah Penda's Dunk Hit His Face and Still Went Back Through the Net... So Why No Basket?
Keep the session moving with another watch from the same channel.
The Penda dunk is the deepest rabbit hole I've gone down all season and I'm still not sure the refs got it wrong.
Rule one says the ball is dead the instant it enters the cylinder from below, which should've killed this play before any of the chaos even started. But since the ball never fully cleared the net, "entering from below" technically doesn't apply yet. That keeps the play alive.
Then you get to the real kicker. There's a separate rule that says a player can't touch the ball while it's in the net and keep it from clearing the basket. So even if the first rule doesn't save the defense, this one does.
His face blocking that ball from clearing is the violation. Not a missed shot. A turnover.
Wildest part is both rules are correct on their own. It's just a matter of which one actually applies first. #shorts
