WORLD RECORDDD!
This evening in Rome, Dutch world champion Marrit Steenbergen continued her transcendent season in the 100 free. After already dropping a historic 51.94 last month, Steenbergen dropped a bomb tonight and touched at 51.68. This broke Sarah Sjostrom's 9-year-old World Record by .03, becoming the first woman to go sub-51.7.
After the race, Steenbergen still hadn't processed the swim, saying that it still felt weird that she was the new world record-holder.
