Bob Bowman's pro group was coming off of a 24-day training camp at altitude in Colorado Springs at the US Open, which seemed to work in their advantage. Even though Bowman's goal for the camp was to get them a lot of aerobic work, he said they never went above 7k per practice and that he wanted to make sure their speed was still intact.
That seemed to be the case in Austin last week, as many of the shorter distance-oriented athletes saw success, including Simone Manuel and Chris Guiliano, who both won events.
