After being outscored 33-9 over the first two games of the series, Cincinnati needed a much better performance on both sides of the ball. They got it, highlighted by another big swing from Eugenio Suárez and a late go-ahead run manufactured by the middle of the lineup.

Milwaukee struck first against Chase Burns in the second inning when Joey Ortiz launched a two-run home run, giving the Brewers an early 2-0 advantage. Burns worked three innings before Cincinnati turned the game over to its bullpen as the club continues to manage his workload late in the season.

The Reds' offense was quiet through five innings before finally breaking through in the sixth. Elly De La Cruz and Sal Stewart helped set the table before Suárez delivered the biggest swing of the afternoon, blasting a three-run homer to put Cincinnati ahead 3-2. It was Suárez's 24th home run of the season and his second homer in as many games.

Milwaukee answered in the seventh when Jake Bauers hit his 26th home run of the year, tying the game at three.

Cincinnati responded immediately.

De La Cruz opened the eighth with a single and advanced to third on another hit from Stewart. Tyler Stephenson then brought De La Cruz home with a sacrifice fly, giving Cincinnati a 4-3 advantage. De La Cruz and Stewart each finished with two hits as the Reds totaled eight on the afternoon.

From there, the bullpen finished the job. Brandon Williamson earned the victory after providing extended relief, while Emilio Pagán closed the door in the ninth for his 23rd save. Cincinnati's pitching staff held Milwaukee to six hits and three runs, a dramatic turnaround after surrendering 33 runs in the previous two games.

The 4-3 win snapped Milwaukee's five-game winning streak and improved Cincinnati to 70-79. More importantly, the Reds avoided being swept and ended a difficult six-game road trip on a positive note before returning home.
