Three-time Olympic medallist Katie Archibald has retired from cycling, despite being chosen for Scotland's 2026 Commonwealth Games team, after having "fallen in love" with her new career in nursing. She won Olympic gold in the women’s Madison at Tokyo 2020 alongside Laura Kenny, and was part of the British women’s team pursuit squad that took gold at Rio 2016 with Kenny, Elinor Barker and Joanna Rowsell. Reflecting on Rio, she said: “Riding the final lap of the team pursuit final felt like I left my body. I don’t know if I’ll ever feel that again.”
