The Golden State Valkyries built one of their biggest leads of the season and had to hang on late, beating the Los Angeles Sparks 84- 78 despite blowing most of a 19-point advantage. Cecilia Zandalasini led the way with 15 points, going a perfect 5 of 5 from three-point range, while Tiffany Hayes added 14.

Golden State opened the game on fire, shooting 66.7 percent from the field in its highest-scoring first quarter of the season to take a 29-15 lead. The Valkyries pushed the margin to 19 early in the fourth quarter before the Sparks answered with a 26- 8 run to cut the deficit to a single point. Gabby Williams, Janelle Salaün, and Kayla Thornton delivered down the stretch to seal the win, with Williams and Thornton each finishing with 11 points.

Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks with 16 points, while Erica Wheeler added 15. Kiah Stokes exited the game for good due to a neck contusion after taking an inadvertent elbow, and the team will monitor her status. The win extends Golden State's streak to four straight and keeps them with the best record in the WNBA since June 24. The Valkyries host Chicago next.
