Philippines STUN Latvia in Massive Upset
A historic night for Philippine basketball. Gilas Pilipinas stunned the home crowd in Riga with an 89–80 victory over Latvia, pulling off one of the biggest upsets on the international stage.
The win marked the Philippines’ first victory over a European team in an official FIBA competition since 1960. From the opening minutes, the Philippines played fearless basketball, matching Latvia’s physicality and never backing down on their way to a memorable win, a result that made history in 2024.
