PREMATURE COMMITMENT: Boston Red Sox Extend Chad Tracy—Should They Have WAITED for October?

The Boston Red Sox commit to Chad Tracy with a bold three-year extension—but was it too soon after a postseason collapse? Gabby Maljanian dissects the roller-coaster 2026 season, questioning whether Boston’s midseason dominance or late-season struggles reveal the real Red Sox. Can Craig Breslow trust the summer surge, or is a roster overhaul the only path forward?

Key topics include Payton Tolle’s breakout, Sonny Gray’s playoff frustrations, and Boston’s bullpen whiplash from MLB-best to playoff liability. Gabby highlights the club’s need for dependable bats after September’s offensive nosedive and examines whether Chad Tracy can grow as a postseason manager. With resilience defining last year’s squad, fans are left to wonder: Will the Red Sox raise their floor and finally contend for an AL East crown in 2027?
