Forged Distance Machines (With a Few Caveats)
In this video I put the brand-new Srixon ZXi5 and ZXi5+ irons through a full review. These are premium forged irons that deliver soft, pure feel, excellent forgiveness, and serious distance — especially the stronger-lofted ZXi5+.
What I loved:
• Buttery forged feel with solid feedback
• Surprising forgiveness and ball-speed retention on mishits
• Strong distance (the ZXi5+ is a real rocket)
• Clean player-preferred looks at address
• Excellent turf interaction thanks to the Tour V.T. Sole
The drawbacks:
• Strong lofts mean you’ll need to recalibrate your distances
• Spin can run a bit low for some players, affecting stopping power
• Not a massive leap over the previous generation in every area
• Premium price tag
I break down the differences between the ZXi5 (players-performance balance) and the new ZXi5+ (more distance + forgiveness in a still-compact shape), show launch monitor data, on-course performance, and who these irons are actually best for.
Whether you’re a mid-handicapper chasing distance with forged feel or a better player looking for a more forgiving option, this review will help you decide if the new Srixon ZXi5 / ZXi5+ belong in your bag.
