Emma Grace Hurley says this workout scares her more than race day.
We followed her through one of the key sessions of her build for the 2026 Chicago Marathon on Oct. 11, which will be her marathon debut.
The session: a 15-minute warmup, 35 minutes at half marathon effort, a 5-minute jog, then 35 minutes at marathon effort, all in the biggest training week of her life. She called it probably the best marathon workout she's ever run.
Coach Andrew Begley explains the five-year plan behind it.
Since filming, she ran 1:06:23 to finish fifth at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen and helped Team USA win its first-ever women's team medal at the half marathon.
