Vietnam vs Hong Kong | Highlights | AVC Women's Continental Championship 2026. Vietnam delivered a convincing straight-set victory over Hong Kong, China, in the preliminary phase of the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship. Vietnam won the match 3–0 with set scores of 25–19, 25–12 and 25–11. The match was played on August 24, 2026, at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium in Tianjin, China.

This was an extremely important match for Vietnam because the team had lost its opening Pool C encounter against South Korea 3–1. Vietnam needed a convincing victory to strengthen its chances of reaching the quarterfinals, and the players responded with a dominant performance. The result gave Vietnam its first victory of the tournament and kept the team firmly involved in the race for a place in the elimination stage.

Vietnam began the opening set positively and quickly established an advantage. Team captain Trần Thị Thanh Thúy led the offense with powerful attacks and effective serving, while Phạm Quỳnh Hương and Trần Thị Bích Thủy also made important contributions. Hong Kong remained competitive and reduced the difference late in the set, but Vietnam used its greater experience and attacking quality to regain control and win 25–19.

Thanh Thúy scored six points in the first set, including five attacks and one service ace. Her ability to score from difficult situations gave Vietnam stability whenever Hong Kong threatened to close the gap.

The second set was considerably more one-sided. Vietnam improved its serving pressure, organized its block and consistently converted defensive opportunities into points. Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt was able to manage his lineup and reduce Thanh Thúy’s workload, but Vietnam continued to dominate even while its captain spent time on the bench.

Đặng Thị Trà My was one of Vietnam’s leading performers in the second set, scoring five points through four successful attacks and one block. Bích Thủy also made a major impact at the net, while Nguyễn Thị Uyên and Quỳnh Hương maintained the team’s attacking rhythm. Vietnam created a large advantage and comfortably won the second set 25–12.

Despite the worrying injury, Vietnam quickly regained its concentration. A six-point run overturned the early deficit, and the team gradually took complete control. Quỳnh Hương scored six points during the third set, Bích Thủy added four, and Thanh Thúy and Lê Như Anh contributed three points each. Vietnam finished the match in commanding fashion, winning the third set 25–11.

Phạm Quỳnh Hương was Vietnam’s leading scorer with 15 points. The young outside hitter produced an impressive all-around performance and demonstrated why she is considered one of the country’s most promising players. Thanh Thúy finished with 12 points, while middle blocker Bích Thủy contributed 11 points, including six attacks, two blocks and three service aces.

Vietnam finished the match with 42 attacking points compared with Hong Kong’s 25. Vietnam also held a narrow 7–6 advantage in blocking and recorded eight service aces, while Hong Kong managed only one. Those statistics demonstrated Vietnam’s superiority in attack and serving, even though Hong Kong competed reasonably well at the net.

Vietnam entered the 2026 championship with significant continental ambitions after achieving its best result in the history of the competition by finishing fourth in 2023. The team qualified for the 2026 edition after winning the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup. Captain Thanh Thúy remained the team’s most experienced international player, while Quỳnh Hương, Bích Thủy, Trà My and the other members of the squad provided Vietnam with valuable attacking depth.

The only major negative for Vietnam was the injury suffered by Nguyễn Thị Uyên. Her condition became an important concern ahead of the match against Japan and the potential elimination phase. Nevertheless, the 3–0 victory revived Vietnam’s quarterfinal hopes and confirmed that the team remained a serious competitor at the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship.
